FILM OVERVIEW:

In November 2002, Alabama Governor Don Siegelman went to bed having won re-election to the Governor’s office. To his bewilderment, he woke up having lost the election to a “computer glitch” discovered by Republican operatives after the Democratic poll workers had left for the night.

According to Siegelman and others who have studied the case, the Governor was a target of Republican strategist Karl Rove. Persecution did not end with the election loss, however: Siegelman was indicted on questionable charges bribery and mail fraud, convicted, and served five years in prison.

“This film is the story behind the most notorious political prosecution in American history. How a corrupt cadre of politicos, led by Karl Rove, secretly rigged a federal court to railroad former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman into jail because they couldn’t beat him at the polls. It exposes the dark underbelly of political corruption, and revels the moral crisis plaguing the American political system.” [Film description]
