Donating cryptocurrency you have owned for more than one year and that has increased in value may provide better tax benefits than selling the asset and giving cash.
Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the investment. You can avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in value over the original cost of the crypto.
