Scrutineers is an interactive online community where people connect to protect US elections by understanding best practices, providing public oversight, and verifying the vote count.

Discuss Current Election Issues and Join Working Groups and Teams
Working groups observe elections, verify election night reporting, and check whether each State follows best practices. Attend our monthly Community Gathering to discuss current election news, share ideas, and learn from and support each other.

Observe Vote Processing and Counting
After the polls close, we can watch how well our election offices process the ballots, witness the security measures in place, and support election workers if they’re harassed.
By observing in person you show staff that people care, you encourage better procedures, and you can tell others how trustworthy the results are.
Take Videos of Poll Tapes on Election Night
We capture images of the poll tapes printed out and publicly displayed showing the votes tallied at a local precinct. This documentation can be later compared to officially reported results.
Technology & Audits Working Group
We examine and analyse technologies and procedures that make elections more transparent, voting secure, and audits of all contests inexpensive and routine.
Vulnerabilities inherent in computer systems must be mitigated by rigorous checks of software updates, logic & accuracy tests, equipment chain of custody, etc.
State Teams
Coordinate our role with local organizations and allies so we can assist where possible—and avoid duplication.
Teams would monitor changes to state election laws and rules, equipment being proposed for purchase, etc., establish a good list of local contacts, and continue to push for transparency through public oversight.
